A warm welcome to Arnall Drive to the players, spectators, and management team of this afternoon’s visitors Ruardean Hill Rangers.

Last week the 1st team had a decent 2-2 away draw at Ruardean’s close neighbours Broadwell Amateurs. The lad thought they were on the rough end of a few close refereeing decisions, so an away draw was a good outcome. Pete and his management team are slowly getting players back from the awful injury problems we have suffered this season so are hopeful of a positive end to the season.

Please come and search me out or contact me through our website if you can help with sponsoring a match, player, or pitch side advertising board, or would just like to help and get involved with the running of the club. We are always looking for more help with match days, pitch works, fundraising or just being part of an active committee.

Finally, please remember ‘we win

together, we lose together

but most importantly

we stick together.

Regards

A warm welcome to the players, management and officials of Ruardean Hill Rangers to today's fixture at Arnall Drive.

The recent performances and results have been a mixed bag.  After poor performances against Totterdown and Chalford, the lads suffered a cruel late loss to Wick in a game that I felt we played some brilliant football in and controlled for large parts of the game.  Alas, we did not take our chances, leaving Wick with a way back in which they duly took.  On next to a midweek trip up the M5 to Quedgeley, against whom we gifted three goals, all easily avoidable and very basic individual errors.

Compounding this, Quedgeley's own mistakes were not punished, leaving us well and truly beaten, suffering a 4-0 loss.  A response was demanded, and the lads served up a strong performance on the road against Broadwell.  Hampered by the dismissal of Harvey Moran early in the second half, as well as a dubious penalty awarded to Broadwell, the lads defended brilliantly, and with the score 2-1 in stoppage time, we were once again undone by a late goal - George James being incredibly unlucky to turn the ball into his own net.

CONTINUED

That said, in the circumstances, not a terrible result, and hopefully has stopped the rot.  Most heartening was the togetherness shown by the lads through this tough season, as with injuries and other things outside of control, it would be easy to turn on each other, but thankfully, this has not been in evidence.

Turning now to Ruardean, against whom we had a decent 2-0 win back in November and themselves are having a mixed season.  Usually our fixtures with them are closely contested affairs, with both keepers being in excellent form.  Hopefully the game turns out to be another cracker.

I hope you enjoy today's fixture.

P8

HARRY TRETT - GOALKEEPER

Former Newport County stopper, Trett brings a commanding presence to the side, blending pin-point distribution with excellent shot-stopping. Following an injury to long standing ‘keeper Jordan Dunning midway through the 2024/25, Trett stepped up and put in a number of outstanding performances to cement his place in the side.

NICK JONES – FULL BACK

Former Cribbs winger, Nick brings pace, experience and a winning mentality to the side. Nick loves to get forwards with his mazy runs, but is equally adept defensively, making him a real asset on the left

TASMAN ROOK – FULL BACK

Tas joined the club in the second half of the 2022/23 season from Chippenham Town. A very gifted player, Tas reads the game situation very well and has proven to be adaptable in a number of shapes, leading to his being last season’s Manager’s Player of the Season.

HARRY HOARE – FULL BACK

After a season out travelling, Harry returns to the club and has made an immediate impact with a number of strong performances at full back over preseason. A tenacious and versatile player, Harry can also slot into central midfield.

8

P9

BLERAN THAQI – CENTRE BACK

After a breakthrough season, former Henbury U18s player Bleran continues to put in mature performances at centre back. Strong both defensively and in possession, Bleran has excellent potential and will be one to watch for the future. Bleran was awarded the 2024/25 Young Player of the Season.

JORDAN BUCKETT (CAPTAIN) – CENTRE BACK

A natural leader on and off the pitch, Jordan has matured well into the captaincy, leading by example through consistently putting in strong performances.

GEORGE JAMES – CENTRE BACK

George alternates between centre back and centre forward, both positions he has become adept at. Despite a questionable decision to don white boots this season, George has good feet, excellent vision and passing range, making him a real asset to the side.

CAMERON TARR – CENTRE BACK

A strong, physical presence at back, Cam is excellent in the air and a handful for opposition forwards. Cam has developed a good partnership with Buckett at the back which contributed to our second half of the season revival last season.

9

P10

MARCUS WILLIAMS (VICE CAPTAIN) – MIDFIELD

Club stalwart, after starting at Under 6’s with Rockleaze Marcus is equally adept at fullback or midfield. A tenacious player, Marcus is a nightmare to play against, winning a lot of ball, and whose low centre of gravity makes him very hard to dispossess. Known to shoot (and occasionally score) from corners.

DREW SAWDON – MIDFIELD

Hard hitting midfielder hailing from the North, 2024-25 Player’s Player of the Season, Drew enjoyed another outstanding season in the 1sts, ending up as joint top goal scorer (11) as well as being a dominating presence in the midfield

SAM BAILEY – MIDFIELD

Silent assassin, bandit-Bailey is a classy midfielder who both links up play and scores goals through his late runs into the box

MATT HARRISON – MIDFIELD

Matt is a classy player (like a fine wine) who brings both calmness and an engine to the midfield. Great positional awareness means that Matt rarely needs to sprint, which is just as well

10

P11

JACK HOSKINS – MIDFIELD

Hoskins is a versatile midfielder who stepped up from the Reserves last season, putting in a number of key performances, who has continued to impress over preseason.

TOMMY COLLINS – MIDFIELD

Tommy rejoins the club after a year travelling. Outstanding technician, Tommy rarely misplaces a pass, and has now added physicality to his game to make an all round box to box midfielder.

SEAN HEAL – MIDFIELD

Henbury legend Sean rejoins the club after two seasons away at Sharpness. Sean brings both experience and grit to the midfield and has impressed over preseason.

CALLUM WINTER – MIDFIELD

Youngster Callum signed on loan from Shirehampton early in the 2024/25 season and made an immediate impact with a series of strong performances whilst chipping in with a number of well taken goals. An exciting prospect and one for the future.

11

P12

LUCCA TOMS - MIDFIELD

Despite a string of injuries last season which limited his game time, Lucca nonetheless finished the season strongly and has worked hard over preseason.

KACPER KALKOWSKI – WINGER

Kacper is incredibly talented – a tricky winger who has great feet and an eye for goal. He has excellent set piece delivery, bagging a number of assists last season.

FRASER BUTT – WINGER

Former Gloucester City academy player, Fraser is a mercurial talent with an eye for goal, as well as being a set piece specialist. Able to play practically any position, Fraser is incredibly versatile. Not the keenest trainer, Fraser nonetheless does it where it counts on the pitch.

HARVEY MORAN – WINGER

Harvey rejoined the club from Stoke Gifford midway through the 2024/25 season. Incredibly athletic, Harvey is a nightmare for opposition defenders as he has no ‘off switch’ and is unlikely to give them a moment’s peace.

12

P13

TATE SHAW – WINGER

He might be built like p!@#, but Tate brings extreme pace to the side, and is an excellent finisher, as demonstrated by his crucial and well taken goals against Bromley Heath and Wick last season.

RHYS ILES – WINGER

Affectionately known as “Turbo”, Rhys might not look it, but he is rapid and has an eye for goal.

KAI ELLIOTT – WINGER

Kai is a tenacious and hard-working winger who steps up from the Reserves after a strong 2024/25 season and impressing over preseason.

DAN WEBB – FORWARD / WINGER

Tour and social secretary, Webby is also a Gloucestershire County League veteran, having terrorised opposition with his skill, movement and goals for a number of years. Looking revitalised following a move out wide, Webby has many more seasons yet to give.

13

P14

JOE HODSON – FORWARD

Joe’s fitness levels have long been a club joke, and have undoubtedly held him back. But no longer. Joe has put in some serious work over preseason to get fit, and has been firing across preseason. If he can maintain these levels across the season, he will be an exciting proposition.

JAMES GOULDEN – FORWARD

Sporting a suspect tache and frosted tips, when not taking long coach trips across Portugal or losing himself in South East Asia, James is a tall and tricky forward. Backed with a great touch and good off the ball movement, James is an exciting talent and one to watch for the future.

JENSON BEARD – FORWARD

Despite missing most of the 2024/25 season through injury, Jenson has worked hard over preseason and is swiftly becoming the complete striker, bringing pace, physicality, work-rate, as well as guile.

SID BASS – PHYSIO

Sid rejoins the club as Team Physio after graduating from university

(Centre) PETER BRADBURY – MANAGER

Long serving manager, into his 15th season having managed the Club’s Reserves, A team and B team previously. Now into an 8th season with the 1st team, Bradders is looking for improvement following last season’s 9th place finish.

(Left) LEE DOUGLAS ASSISTANT MANAGER

Long suffering assistant manager to Bradders, Lee has been signed up for another season. Lee is a generous man who is well loved and respected by everyone in the Club. Known to be quite loud, from time to time, avoid standing directly in his path

(Right) JASON TARR – ASSISTANT MANAGER

Jason is an excellent coach, but also a calm head with a wealth of experience on matchday.

Ruardean Hill Rangers play their football on the highest point in the Forest of Dean, 920 feet above sea level. Formed in 1919,

Ruardean Hill played in the old Forest of Dean league until its termination in the late 1950’s where they moved into the North Gloucestershire League and have remained there in some capacity ever since.

Ruardean Hill gained their first promotion to the Northern Senior League in 1994/95 and competed here for several seasons before being relegated in 2001. Immediately gaining promotion the following year only to be relegated again in 2004. In the 2011/12 season they gained a last day promotion back to the senior league and also reached the final of the ‘Amateur Cup’. The 2012/13 season brought the club its first promotion to the Northern Senior League Division 1 for back to back titles. The ‘Hill’ finished in the top eight for each of the next three seasons before finally winning the Division 1 title last season scoring an incredible 125 goals and conceding just 34 in 35 games. Ruardean Hill’s current first team has a good mixture of youth and experience

The club’s promotions owe a lot to the depth of its other senior teams and the junior ranks. Ruardean Hill now field 3 senior teams and a Under 14’s team who became Champions of their league and gained promotion to Division 1 of the Cheltenham Youth League last season with a un defeated season.

The club are this season competing in their 9th season in the Marcliff County League and are hoping for a strong showing again this year having established themselves.

Aaron Underwood (Goalkeeper) – 1 of the longest serving players in the squad. Great shot stopper who can also start defence to attack very quickly with his direct kicking. Big presence in the dressing room

.

Steve Bowles (Goalkeeper) – Great competition with Aaron for the number 1 spot. Steve has had spells with Cinderford Town in the past. Steve is a keeper who is quick off his line and comfortable with the ball at his feet

Bobby Walding (Defender) – Bobby who has had a spell as a striker in the past, has certainly found his position at centre back. Great organiser of the defence. Likes a good battle with opposing strikers.

Jack Meek (Defender) – Quiet man of the team. Always in the right place at the right time. Reads the game very well and plays the game very chilled out.

Ricky Tingle (Defender) – Rick covers the ground well and looks to play football from the back. Loves an opportunity to get forward and score. Great in both boxes.

Blaine Smith (Defender) – Blaine will bring great county league experience to the club having previously played for Broadwell. Going to add physical presence to the squad. Will cause plenty of problems to opposing teams at set pieces

Dan Bowles (Defender) – 1st full season with the club who also plays for Cinderford Town U18’s. Dan is a proper defender who likes to battle with the opposing strikers. Doesn’t lose much in the air. Great Drummer.

Isaac Hatcher (Midfielder) – Another young player who is in his 1st full season with the club. Played the second half of last season with 2nd team winning Players Player of the Year. Great energy and pace to burn. Can play anywhere in midfield and up front.

Dan Matthews (Midfielder) – Dan is a player again with great energy and never stops running. Can play anywhere along the midfield and like to get a good tackle in. Reliable !!

Ryan Smith (Midfielder) – New signing for the Club. Going to be a great addition with the ability to play ion numerous positions. Will hopefully add good competition to the squad this season.

Mitch Griffin (Midfielder) – Mitch likes to get the ball down and take people on. Can play on either wing. Great work rate and always puts a shift in for the team.

Stuart Cornwell-Boote (Midfielder) – Stu loves taking defenders on. He loves nothing better than a good nutmeg. Great team player. He is 1 of the older players in the squad. Loves a trip to the park.

Dan Mason (Midfielder) – Dan will be like a new signing this season. Spent most of last season injured or suspended. Great character around the dressing room. He can play anywhere in midfield and loves to put a tackle in.

Steve Coombs (Midfielder) – Vital cog to the team in the engine room. Long serving member of the club. 1 of the best passers of the ball in the squad, rarely giving the ball away. Has started to add goals to his game.

21

p22

Charley Mason (Midfielder) – Great engine who has a great eye for a pass. Doesn’t mind a tackle either. Set piece delivery excellent. Charley likes to get the ball down on the floor and play.

Luke Brown (Midfielder/Forward) – Club Captain. Always looking to play the game the right way. Has the ability to play anywhere. Work rate is 2nd to none. Likes to score goals from midfield.

Ben Ball (Midfielder) – 1st full season in men’s football. Likes to get on the ball and has a great eye for a pass. Will learn loads this season.

Kane Fellows (Midfielder/Forward) – Very committed. Kane can play anywhere in midfield or up top. Not afraid to put the foot in if needed. His movement can cause teams a lot of problems.

Luke Johnson (Forward) – Luke loves to put the ball in the back of the net. His tireless running for the team is a massive addition to the team. Defenders nightmare with his running.

Shaun Tingle (Forward) – Shaun’s work rate and hold up play is immense. Does not lose much in the air. Gets his fair share of goals too.

WHETHER it’s your first Non-League Day or your 15th, welcome to another fantastic occasion in the football calendar.

As so often said, this brilliantly simple idea from James Doe has had an impact on this level of the game he surely couldn’t have predicted.Back in 2010, inspired by watching his local side Harrow Borough play QPR, James had the foresight to come up with an event - on an international weekend - to encourage football fans to watch their local club.

Since then there’s been countless weird and wonderful ideas put on by clubs to help bring people through the gates. It will be the same today.

From the likes of Farnham Town offering free entry to anyone who arrives before 2pm to FC United staging a friendly with Pinxton and the Essex Senior League running a Coast to City Groundhog with staggered kick-offs - with the Isuzu FA Vase trophy in tow for pictures - there is so much going on across the country.

In recent years, Non-League Day has also spread across Europe with the involvement of Athletic Bilbao and interest in Germany and France.

Italian giants Juventus are even getting involved with Maidenhead United and Barnton, while Palermo are teaming up with Corinthian-Casuals.

We all have our own reasons for watching Non-League football. For  many it’s the connection to the action we feel at games, the affordability, the knowledge your money over the turnstile or tea bar really matters - and the fact, more often than not, you’ll see an enjoyable and entertaining match.

How many people reading this programme first stepped foot in a ground outside of the Football League on Non-League Day? You can be sure its impact will last well beyond the final whistle today. Enjoy your game.

Saturday 21 March 2026

Bishops Cleeve defeating Frampton, yes, I can see that, but 7-1 was a result I would have never have thought possible. Another five-goal demolition of another of the bottom group sees Sharpness stay top, but Filton maintained pressure on Sharpness with a twelfth victory in a row.

A bumper crowd at Kayte Lane on a glorious Saturday afternoon saw Bishops Cleeve Development rampant against Frampton United. It took the home side five minutes to open the scoring as George Cuzner opened his account. Cleeve continued to dominate but it was Frampton who scored next from a free kick finding Matt Halsey free . Ellerton continued his scoring run to put Cleeve back in front and goal number three followed a foul on Ellerton with Monty New scoring. Cleeve were in the mood for goals and skipper Danter-Welch added a goal from a beautiful corner routine. The goal of the game followed with Gardiner lobbing Adam Clark from 40 yards. The second half would naturally calm down in front of goal, however, Cleeve added a further two goals early on with Cuzner scoring a tap in and Harry Davis scoring from another corner routine with a delightfully placed strike for a 7-1 Bishops Cleeve win.

At the Lawns Cribbs Reserves, after a midweek win were hoping to upset League leaders Sharpness, but it was the visitors who took the lead on 7 minutes when Ben Hemmings converted a penalty. A depleted Cribbs side responded well and played some good football but only created half-chances. On 34 minutes Kier Bennett latched onto a through ball and slotted past Jude Brown to double the visitor’s advantage. Five minutes before the break a point blank save by Brown kept Cribbs in the

match but moments later home skipper Andy Forward saw red for an off the ball incident which tended to undo Cribbs hard work as on 48 minutes Mike Bryant made it 3-0 for the Sharks. The ten men of Cribbs still managed to play some neat football and got a deserved goal when a pin-point cross from Abdul Bangoura was headed home by James Capon. However, Sharpness immediately responded when Alfie Jones restored the three-goal advantage and Will Tainton finished a fine passing move to complete the scoring making it a 5-1 Sharpness win.

It's now twelve wins in a row for Filton Athletic after a hard-fought home win over Bromley Heath United. The first fifteen minutes was an even affair until a Fraser Venables corner missed everyone and cannoned off the post and Bromley had a good breakaway but were stopped by Chris Hillyer’s fine defending. The first real Filton chance came on the half hour when Trey Merrett’s shot was deflected to Kieran Daniels but he shot over and then a Venables cross was met by Cooper and his header was narrowly over. Filton broke the deadlock on 40 minutes when Venables nutmegged his man and the curled his shot into the top corner. Bromley equalised right on half-time when Elliston-Sackett scored after the ball came off O’Brien’s chest. Bromley started the second half on top when top-man Lewis’s shot is saved by Taylor. Filton got the next goal to restore their lead when Cooper finished well from Venables great through ball. Bromley were temporarily down to ten following a sin-binning and Tom Fry almost made it three for the home side when he rattled a post after good work by Liam Dorman. With the last action of the game Bromley almost equalised when Charlie Snell headed over from a corner and Filton had held out for a hard-fought 2-1 win.

At Vicarage Road Hanham Athletic hosted Quedgeley Wanderers as they sought to improve their miserable season, and it was QW who had the first real chance when a mistake by Harley Boyce let John De Quincey Adams in but a brilliant double-save by Ashton Trott kept the striker at bay. Hanham had their first real chance on 25 minutes when a great run and cross from Tom Sayers was only inches away from a finish by Morgan Stryjewski. Hanham had an unbelievable chance to take the lead at the start of the second half when a cross from the right fell to Twaine Plummer a yard out but somehow failed to score. Hanham had another great chance but this time Paul Coles should have scored but his shot was stopped on the line and their last chance of the game from a corner which was narrowly headed over by Liam Maggs and goalless it finished.

At the Ruardean Rec. Tewkesbury Town were up against Ruardean Hill Rangers and the first chance fell to Hill after a great break and deep cross by Luke Brown found Steve Clark who in turn squared to Max Telling who lifted the ball over the bar from 6 yards. Hill were on the front foot pushing Town back and it wasn’t until the fifteenth minute that Town started to come back into the game with a couple of deep crosses that failed to test Underwood in the Hill goal but, they managed to take the lead a few minutes later as the ball was held up and a through ball found Jamie Goodwin who made no mistake slotting past Underwood. Five minutes later Hill should have been level after a lovely through ball from Ollie Mason found Steve Clark but his effort was over with only Poole to beat. Hill’s equaliser came on 39 minutes as a great ball from Charley Mason found Max Telling on the wing and his early cross found Ollie Mason who nutmegged Poole in the Tewkesbury goal.

29

Two minutes into the second half Clark found himself in acres of room but fired wide. Hill found another couple of chances around the 70th minute, one from a corner, the second from a great ball in by Charley Mason who found his brother Ollie but his weak header was saved by Poole. Hill finally got the lead on 82 minutes when a great ball in by Charley Mason was unfortunately headed in to his own goal by Scott Nicholls. Hill got their third on 85 minutes when a bad defensive header back to Poole was intercepted by Kane Fellows who lobbed the keeper. Right on the stroke of time Hill nearly scored a fourth but Ollie Mason’s shot brought a great save from Poole, so 3-1 to Hill it ended.

Tytherington Rocks faced Chalford at Hardwicke looking to build on recent positive performances but it was Chalford on the back of four wins who went into the lead in the 9th minute when the ball landed at the feet of Andy Maryon who smashed it into the top corner. Tytherington pushed for an equaliser but were unable to create anything clear cut. The second half followed a similar format to the first and in the 55th minute a corner landed at the feet of Travis Cooke who smashed the ball in from the edge of the box for Chalford’s second. Tytherington ended the game with ten men after keeper Luke Baker went off injured, having used all of their subs and 2-0 it ended to Chalford.

On a fine afternoon on a fine pitch at the Nest Wick took on Totterdown United and the visitors were on the front foot from the start testing Wilson in the Wick goal after only four minutes. Wick had a free kick in the 9th minute but the shot was comfortably claimed by keeper Martin and chances were few and far between for the first half

hour. Following a period of Wick pressure Tommy Lacey let loose a shot on the half hour mark but cleared the Totts bar, and shortly after, following a Wick corner, Totterdown broke quickly down the right wing and an excellent cross found Toby Carter steaming in to neatly finish past Wilson to open the scoring.  Wick started the second half the brighter of the teams and put a great chance wide. Wick huffed and puffed and created little with the Totts defence holding firm and Martin ever alert in goal.  Ten minutes from time a great shot from Freddie Mogg from the edge of the box found the bottom corner of the net for Wick’s equaliser.

At the Hawthorns Broadwell Amateurs took on Henbury & Rockleaze with an uneventful first half and the best chances falling to Broadwell, the first from Dan Brain from the edge of the area with Harry Trett making a smart save low down to his right and the second a free kick just outside the area which Kian Skidmore smashed straight into the wall. The second half was much more entertaining and despite a red card for H&R following a coming together they took the lead shortly after when Jones’ “cross” evaded everyone including Jack Watkins. Broadwell piled forward but there was no end product in the final third with H&R sitting deep and tight and very well organised. The equaliser came from a bit of misfortune with the ball bouncing up and catching an H&R hand in the area with a penalty awarded which was dispatched by Jamie Creed. H&R took the lead shortly after following a corner with Jordi Locke misjudging the bounce and a strange own-goal following. As the game wore on Locke received a red card as the last man, but nothing came from the free kick. In the final moments as Broadwell committed forward a diagonal ball out from Dan Brain to Liam Brain inside the box and his low driven cross was deflected in for another own goal in the dying seconds for 2-2.
